My zeen has been printed from Indesign and has been put together. I used a saddle stitch with black thread and a needle. I had an issue with punching the holes through the piece but it came out well in the end. It is very strongly bonded as I went through each hole various times. I’m happy with he outcome of the book and hopefully will inform the process and ideas of the posters and map.
Finally! I have got my laser cut finished. I plan to try a technique of transferring ink onto wood. I will use a special type of glue that transfers it. I want to try different types of textures such as bark as I wasn’t able to get it laser cut on the laser cutter as it only does lines. I’m hoping this approach will work. I purposely got some extra plaques on a smaller scale cut so they could be used to test with.
Been Going through my zeen adding some extra information to them and research. Tommorow I will be printing my work off and stitching it together. I will need to buy some thread and a needle. I have practiced with some i found lieing around but I need a better quality of thread.
I enjoyed putting all my work together and Its nice too look at it through then zeen as I can see how it came together in the end.
These are four of my page spreads from the book I have created using Indesign. I like how i have a bit of colour in the work as i normally go with black and white as i prefer the dark on light colour.
Stairway to heaven guarded by the squirrels in the park. I Had to change my idea as certain laser cutters do certain cuts and i had to many lines in my original for the laser cutter to cut. I looked at other plaques thinking of ways to simplify my idea.
I lloked at how i could simplify and combine the squirrel and stairs together and after a few drawing i instantly came to find merging the tail and stairs together gives the same effect as the squirrel. It will be completely cut out of the ply wood.
This is me adding areas using the scissor tool to cut out lines to place other lines in to create other shapes.
This is what it should look like after it is cut out using the laser cutter onto the 3mm plywood. I really like shape of the plaque as it changes from the centre outwards to match the stairs and the squirrels characteristics. I definetley want it cut onto wood as wood comes from trees and the squirrels come from the trees.
This is my final piece after haveing 4 different attemtps at it. I think before i was over complicating my work and not doing what i like to do. I found the project became more interesting for me to do and i enjoyed drawing my illustrations.
I used a ken burns effect to zoom in and out on the images which gave the image more movement.
I searched for soundtracks for the image. I started looking at instumental as i thought a voice would put the viewer off from reading. I then searched music that had a gradual build up. I looked and action, calm and sad style but found one that seemed a bit intense which i liked. It had a could beat which ment when the image was to change it would roll with it which i tried to master so it could flow well with the images and sound.
This is my final piece I hope you enjoy
I have been looking into my story as the second outcome still wasnt good enough. I looked into my style and worked with it to create the story so it could be easier read. I created six illustrations and edited them using greyscale colouring. I will place each individual image into a video in which i will use the ken burns effects wich will slowly focus into an area on the illustration for 10 seconds. which will create a one minute video.
I recreated the bird blower as i did not like the original idea. I created a tank idea as they are used to fight wars and i consider the fact the population of birds has increased it is a war to protect. I really enjoyed drawing these images and got into the brief more. I carried out a range of research looking at other ideas.
For my final video for project one has been completely changed the way id present the bird blower. I started off trying stop motion using small parts. Next I tried making moving parts using gif.file’s to show movement. But finally i moved onto a comic theme to show the story.
The comic idea works well due to the fact it shows the story of the bird blower. I created an a comic page that could be placed into adobe premier. I used the Ken burns effect to move around the page to each part of the comic running through the comic. you have to do small parts of reading but there are plenty of images also.
I Created my Alphabetical type for a page inside my book. I created it using the sticks from trees that had been chewed and destroyed by the squirrels from bethnal green park. I started off by laying them out individually on a white background following a picture.
I then moved the images onto photoshop in which i removed the background and added extra areas of wood using the clone stamp tool. this is my outcome…
I came up with an idea called LoVdon which stands for london but links to the emotions and moods in project two. The idea had was use the emtion of love but with your mood. The idea of loveing london with the mood within the text.
These hearts i created by drawing then editing into illustrator. The hearts symbolise love but are human hearts. I chose these as I like the detial on the heart compared to your standard love heart shape.
I put the heart into a grid and then overlayed it over the type i had created using the same method.
I transfered the grid of hearts from illustrator into photoshop as it is easy to crop around the type to fit the grid of hearts so they do not overlap the text but fit perfectly.
Lovedon – Love poster. The idea was this symbolises “feeling loved”.
I decided ill put onto a wider white background with some simple text in Helvetica Bold with the idea of Feeling the love.
Idea : “Not your day”
Roses Idea for Lovedon
The last two need to be create so they are alot darker. I will experiment more with the images inside the text for different moods so i should have a range of moods and emotions for 3 poster +.
